Default wireless usb adapter????????????????

im looking to purchase a usb that can pick up my wireless router.
the wireless router is two floors upstairs in the attic , and my new pc downstairs.

what usb would u recommend . which provides best signal strenght.
anyone tried testing this ?



pc specs: mobo:asus p5ne-sli,E6600,2gb corsair xms2 800mhz,80gb maxtor daimond 20 hard drive,160gb sata on the way!!! evga 7800gt gpu.(8800gt on the way!!)

if you have anything else that is wireless, test it in this location first before buying anything to make sure you can get a decent signal

I've had good experience with linksys usb adapters, but every pci card adapter has worked better..... they just seem to pick up the signal better.

I couldn't get the PCI Linksys N card to work on my desktop.
I use the Linksys W300NUSB adapter and it works fine with my WRT300N Router

how far does the usb detect a signal from?

i get signals from the basement and my router's on the 3rd floor.
Course its also prob cause the router's range too.
