Default wireless router

I'm gonna need one when I buy my new comp, anyone got any suggestions? I had a Linksys wired router, and it like died on me out of no where, is that a fluke or does Linksys suck?

Linksys is a good brand, definitely one of the most popular. I actually have an Xterasys brand wireless router that was very inexpensive and it has been running perfect for a couple years now. I suspect that the saying "you get what you pay for" holds true for most things, but IMHO I would say don't base your router purchase solely on a brand name.

I have had and used several Linksys extensively, including the wireless I am on now. I have never had a problem. I have also used Belkin and a few others without a problem. I like the WRT54GS Ver. 5 although I have heard of problems with the version 5 firmware I have never had a router problem with it.

The Dlink Gaming Router comes highly recommended. I personaly use linksys with out issues, but if I was going to buy a router tomorrow it would probably be the Dlink Gaming Router.

I've been using Linksys for years now - wired since 1998 and wireless for the last couple months now. No problems other than needing to reboot router occasionally. (Don't know why.) My local dealer has now switched to D-link, claiming Linksys quality has lessened. However, I suspect it's really because his price on Linksys couldn't compete with the Walmart down the street.

One of the things that makes the wireless routers from Linksys stand out, is that the default options will not allow a VPN connection wirelessly. You may not care if you don't work from home, and it is easy enough to configure properly. Most other manufacturers still enable VPN access via wireless by default, and I actually consider this a security vulnerability. I wouldn't want my neighbor latching onto my wireless network and working from home, he can pay for his own dang bandwidth.
