Default Time warner sucks....

So.... thats basically it. Its a fact. I'm sure you all know that.

Here's the short story:

We were going to get our phone switched to TW's (at the time) better phone service, but then, my dad noticed that Verizon's was way better, so he cancelled his order with time warner (this was like 1 or 2 days after the order) and signed up with Verizon.

So the geniuses at time warner decided to take it upon themselves to completely cut off our phone service. We haven't had a house-phone for 2 weeks now. So The guy from Verizon was supposed to come in today, but lo-and-behold, Time warner had called Verizon and cancelled our plan for us! How grand!

We no longer have phone service with them, or any phone at all, besides our cell phones. (we are cancelling our TV and Cable internet within the week) and getting ATT for internet and someone else for

So my dad is calling Verizon....and a lawyer.
He has probably spent a good 20 hours on hold waiting for TW's "service" to respond, and then they say "Hello? Hello?" as my dad shouts into the phone (which get 4 bars where we live) and after they hang up because nobody was on the line.... which there was somebody on the line...... my dad gets pissed and tries again. Or goes to sleep, or sits down to dinner, or goes to work.

So, to make a long short story short.

Time warner sucks ass, and.... if you're thinking about getting them as your ISP or any other "service" by them........


don't.

Hmm, a scam. Someone ELSE can just call up and cancel YOUR phone service? Thats messed up..............

lol, those last 2 threads I thought of on the way home and this thread is because I just (like 5 minutes ago) heard my dad scream out "They f* canceled our phone plan from Verizon!!!" really loud.

I've been using TW for several years now, and have not had one problem with them. Even when I do the breaking, they come running to fix it.

Wow, thats pretty sucky for what TW did, but I'd also question Verizon since they agreed with Time Warner to cancel your service, before contacting you.

this is why all my accounts with electronic services from power to cable to telephone... I have a voice authorization.. a keyword so that no one but me can make any changes to the service. If there is any attempted changes then I get a phone call saying "did you authorize this?" and of course 99.999% of the time I say no.
About 2 weeks ago had some company try signing themselves up as my long distance carrier which I do not have one at all right now (for the landline phone) since I use VoIP for outgoing long distance. The phone company tried calling whenever no one was home and authorized it after 3 failed attempts to reach me. I ripped into them so hard, spoke to the supervisor's supervisor and threatened a lawsuit if this happens again.

Ok, so more news from the TW front:
Verizon said they can't do anything until TW gives them something, and then it will be July 17th when they are able to do anything. So my dad basically told both Verizon and TW to F* off and we're gonna go with ATT for everything.

I can add to this list of crap companies Alltel. In December the wife wanted to suprise me and buy me a Razor and some new phone service. We got a deal that got each of us a Razor and my daughter an MP3 player phone. After activations and phones we paid close to $1000 to get our service up and running.

All seemed okay until 3 days later I get a bill for $300 from Alltel. I called and asked and they told me this was the bill for the first month service. I explained that first of all I was not paying $300 for a month and second we paid our first month when we signed up. They explained this was also the activation fees, except I had already paid those as well.

The person on the phone then tried to tell me that these fees where normal and I was under contract. Remember I had this phone for like 4 days at this point.

I packed up all three phones and returned them to the store. I all American Express and cancelled the payment to Alltel. IO then called Alltel and explained their sales person had lied to me on the pricing, all equipment was returned and I wanted them to make sure the account was cancelled.

They gave me a verification number and I thouth that was that. Until the next month when I got a bill showing the $300, plus $60 for another months billing and $1500 charge for early cancellation of the contract.

My attorney is also one of my best friends so I went to his office and called Alltel. They started the song and dance so I gave the phone to him. He explianed he was my attorney and they immediately called him a liar and refused to speak with him.

Last month we finally got the bills removed and now we are fighting to get the blemish they put on my credit rating removed. Needless to say I let everyone know, DO NOT USE ALLTEL!

Wow, this is a bit shocking to me since I've never had any kind of bad experience with TimeWarner. Looks like someone there really screwed up since they should not have disconnected your old service until they were actually there to install the new. At that time they have you sign an authorization to switch to their service, which they must do in order to comply with anti-slamming laws.

Don't know about hiring a lawyer, but your dad should contact your state's attorney general's office of consumer affairs as well as the FCC. Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB)

BTW was your former phone carrier aware that TW had your service from them cut off without your permission? Oh, their lawyers would drool at the thought of going after this one...
