Default Scam

I usually don't get anything like this since I'm careful about giving out my email address. This one is a real doozy; it's not even from my postmaster.

Dear Customer,

Our robot has detected an abnormal activity from your IP adress
on sending e-mails. Probably it is connected with the last epidemic
of a worm which does not have official patches at the moment.

We recommend you to install this patch (hyperlink removed) to remove worm files and stop email sending, otherwise your account will be blocked.

I wonder how many suckers they'll catch on this one. Oh well, the Geek Squad will be happy.

How terrible. These damn scammers just prey on the uninformed people who are scared by the media into thinking that everything in the world is trying to attack their computer and they need to do everything they can to protect it, even if it means installing unknown "security patches".
That should be our next slogan... "Visit HardwareLogic, Get Informed"

I hate people who have nothing better to do than sit around and watch others kill their computers for absolutely no reason due to their stupid actions.

Devote your life to something better.

I like the rather poor English and how its signed "Postmaster" instead of "Webmaster". Amazing what scammers will try to do.

Probably all your passwords and account information due to the keylogger the unsuspecting victims installed with their "patch".

Corporal punishment, strongly applied, would probably put an end to much of this nonsense. (No mutilation, just a good horse whipping!)

I guess it falls in to the same category as vandalism. It's not done for any personal gain, just a cheap thrill for some sick-o.
