| Hello, I've recently purchased a new router 802.11g than supports Ethernet.. But the problem is, when I connect, it seems like it doesn't work... "D-Link DI524" I was overhearing from forums that it's because of the Firmware, so when I unplugged everything and install the firmware, do you know where to put it? | The bad thing here is that the router has to be plugged in for the firmware to work!!! The firmware is installed into the router itself. Try shutting down windows firewall, if you have it running, and just use the internet modem, the router, and just one system that you will be downloading the firmware to, to execute it. Now many router have an option in the routers control panel that will allow you to update with out downloading first. Not sure if that one does or not. | ||||||||||||||

| I know I have to plug it in first, but I just wanted to know if there was any specific place I have to put it in.. o_O So, once I extract it, the file will totally be installed by itself? | Just extract it to a folder on your desktop or somewhere on your drive that you remember. When you go through the Firmware update utility you will be able to navigate to it. Look in your router manual for the IP address that your router uses for the setup console. It should be either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 then the default user name and PW should either be on a sticker on the router or in the paperwork in the box. I don't know Dlink so I don't know all the details about Dlinks. Once in the Console look for a menu that says firmware update or something similar. | ||||||||||||||
