| You'll need Ultravnc for windows, you can install just the viewer. You'll need to choose a port, set it in the VNC server, and forward it to that machine's IP (you should static it). The hardest part is going to be if your ISP changes your public IP. If that's the case you're going to have a hard time remoting in, because you'll have to find your public IP each time. If so, you may be able to contact them and get them to set you up with a static IP, but often times they will not, to prevent people from running home servers and such. Dunno about Verizon, but TWC were jerks... ![]() Last edited by drew and not u; July 15th, 2008 at 20:06. |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Are you running DSL or cable internet? If its DSL, then it is a Dynamic IP address, and as Drew explained, it will be changing several times a month. Cable on the other hand is most likely a Static IP address. |

| Functional Alcoholic | You can use a Dynamic DNS server that will associate your IP with a domain name. Then you set up your account in your router and it will update itself when your IP changes. DynDNS: DNS Hosting, Email Delivery and Other Services https://www.dlinkddns.com/login |

| Just because you're always connected doesn't mean it won't change. If you know they don't change it then you're all set, but if you're assuming they don't simply because it's an always on connection, you could be mistaken. If your IP truly is static, then you do not need the DNS service, if not then you do. ![]() |

| Functional Alcoholic | You can still use it actually, because it associates a domain name with your IP address, even if your IP never changes. So instead of entering an IP address you just type in your domain. At that point it becomes a convenience not a necessity. |
