Default icon sites ?

my friend have recommended me to get icons from icongold.com. anyone have any experience with this site. the icons look quite good. Please let me know before i shell out $39. thank you in advance

nice looking icons....a little pricey if you ask me......why don't you make your own?

Yeah, they are very pretty, but I'm sure with a little creative insight and patience you can make your own that are just as good if not better!

I personally use Stardock's IconPackager for my Windows icons. My favorite are the Utopia series of icons which come in two shades of black and grey, bue and red.

if you use a program like paint.net then you could always make your own for free.

if you wanted to you could copy/paste the demo icons and make them via paint.net.


I'd say its about 1.5 hours of work and worth 20 bucks an hour.

Personally, I use the default icons in Windows. http://www.kde-look.org and http://www.gnome-look.org have some very nice icons (themes and wallpapers too, all public domain :) ) but those icons won't work in XP. I think they may work in Vista though since Vista uses PNG icons like Linux does. You could find an icon making program to convert them if you find anything on those sites you like.
