Default Goodbye Netscape

"December 28, 2007 (Computerworld) -- AOL LLC today pulled the plug on Netscape Navigator, the Web browser that once owned the lion's share of the market and that was the focus of a landmark federal antitrust case against Microsoft Corp.
In an announcement posted to AOL's blog for the browser, Tom Drapeau, the director of the company's Netscape brand, said the team is ending development and would cease issuing security updates as of Feb. 1, 2008.
"Given AOL's current business focus and the success the Mozilla Foundation has had in developing critically-acclaimed products, we feel it's the right time to end development of Netscape-branded browsers, hand the reigns [sic] fully to Mozilla and encourage Netscape users to adopt Firefox," Drapeau said.
He said all support would end in just over a month and urged current Netscape users to migrate to Mozilla Corp.'s Firefox."

RIP: AOL kills Netscape

Man, I used Netscape for a long time. But went over to Mozilla not too long after that one came out.

Netscape really started to suck when AOL got their hands on it. Go figure huh?

I still have it on my computer. The wife uses it and the kid uses I.E. while I run the fox.

Besides isn't Netscape based on the gecko engine too?

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Back when my parents were anal about me using AIM, I used to use the Netscape browser's built in AIM client so my mom didn't find out about me being on AIM.

Other than that, I didn't use it to often.

Now this sucks! It used to be my main browser before I fell in love with Firefox and it's plug-ins! Now I have to remove an old friend from my PC? This stinks!
