Gmail *Beta*?

I just happened to notice that Gmail is still a beta. What exactly's going on with it? Do any of you know why it's a beta and when it may be officially out of the beta stage?

It looks like its permanently beta, I could never find anything about any future changes. I don't mind, there is nothing they can do to make it any better.

I agree with you that Gmail can't really get much better than it already is (it asks if you want to add stuff from your e-mails to your calendar now! :shock:), but it's kind of funny to me that they still call it a beta. Perhaps that's their way of dealing with the large volumes? They're not giving out invitations anymore, either.

I guess so. Neverending increasing storage, still new features being added. Who knows?

I didn't know about them not giving out anymore invites however. I still have 100 ready to give out, its just that EVERYONE has gmail now.

Perhaps. Personally, I'd trust Google with my life as far as their data redundancy goes. I read their essay on file system structures and theirs was far superior.

So do I. It's kind of weird, but in a way that makes sense since it's invite-only. I got my invite less than a year ago... maybe a lot less than that. I told my friend Bob I didn't have one, and he was like, "Dude! Why didn't you ask me? I have 99 of them!" LOL

I dont have Gmail, hell its hard enough keeping up with the two accounts I have now. i.e. work/home
