| I'm Diggin it! | So I set it up to look at the resources used by each browser. I tested one at a time. Firefox, with 10 open tabs, me being logged into various sites, was using 143,549 memory while IE7, with the same tabs open and the same login states, used 153,385. The only thing different is that my mouse pointer was disappearing, flickering around as I moved it, in FireFox 2.0. After I closed a couple of tabs, the memory usage dropped to 120,449 and my mouse pointer came back. | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Interesting - I've never had that disappearing mouse pointer glitch, and I'm often surfing with 10+ tabs open at any given time. |

| I'm Diggin it! | Right now, I have all 13 of my normal tabs open and FF is only using 125,616 now. The only difference is I don't have my iPod plugged in now. So maybe that was it. I'll try it out later. Time for me to get some sleep now. | One thing to note about firefox is that when your browsing the web, it caches the last 10 pages you visited into memory for quick foward and backing between pages. Memory usage can get quite excessive after you've been browsing for a while... Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| Level 2 College Student | Only lag problems i've had with FF were with Java apps. Or large flash apps. Leadhead: Glad to see you recovering well after the Op. I performed. |

| I'm Diggin it! | :hmmmm: I haven't been able to reproduce the issue now. Even with the iPod plugged in. Wow, Thats a pretty big improvement for FF. IE should always be smaller because the engine is explorer and is already running - unless IE 7 is different. What happens when you do multiple instances instead of tabs? Manta | |
