Finally rid myself of my Hotmail account!

I finally rid myself of my Hotmail account by creating a new Live ID with an email from a domain I own. No more crap that way.

Plus one less email account to keep track of.

Just means I have to update every site where my MSN Messenger address is displayed.

I keep my hotmail account for signing up for accounts I know will spam me.

Gmail FTW! Best free email I got, ever. Spam filtering is just awesome and it's big, reliable.

In reality, you will get spam with any email address, even if you never release it or publish it on the internet.
I primarily use my hotmail account for MSN messenger... although my Yahoo email account that has been open since 1996 averages around 150 spam mails per day, luckily only 2 or 3 make it to my inbox. My gmail has recently been getting more spam too, usually 5-10 per day but they are almost always in the spam folder.

yep, I keep my old hotmail still and mostly use that as my MSN IM and spam email... But I still get some regular email there are well. I just don't want to rely on my ISP or any other email as a primary email account. Because if I move or get rid of a domain, then a lot of contacts may lose their way to contact with me.

gmail for personal stuff, yahoo for everything else

I use GMail for just Google Groups (some are Usenet) and for the occasional personal email, same goes for my Yahoo account.

Most emails are to my emails on my domain which I won't lose control of until I die.

I've had my Hotmail account for like seven years now and have been trying for the past year to be rid of Hotmail myself and switch solely to Gmail but I'm still not quite there. Unfortunately Gmail didn't exist when I started my Hotmail account (or at least I didn't have an invite or know about it). Gmail is definitely the way to go, Hotmail has been going downhill for a while now and now it just plain sucks compared to Gmail.
