Default Dual LAN connections

Like the title says. what is the purpose of this anyway?

Dual NIC's has many purposes. The most common is Internet connection sharing, but they can be used to bridge networks, and can also be used to be connected to two different networks at the same time. There are other more technical uses for it, but those are the most common. The average user really only needs one NIC.

Take a look at this PDF file.

It explains it for an Nvidia chipset, but it's pretty much the same for all dual NIC mobo's.

That only works if you have two nVidia Nics, because you are using their software.

True, but the same perks can be found with any dual NIC setup AFAIK.

Yes and no, it can be done but it's really not worth it, and it's a Real PITA to do with cards from different manufactures.

You see a greater benefit from using Jumbo Frames on a single card for file transfers. Now if you were running a high traffic server you would see a benefit from load balancing.
