Default Real Temp vs. Core Temp?

I was just wondering why I would be getting such a large temperature difference between these two programs? I saw that Real Temp was made with Intel Core 2 Quad and Duos in mind, but after cranking it up to 3.0 GHz I'm getting a temp of 39C on Real Temp, while Core Temp is showing me a constant temp of around 54C with no load. I'm inclined to lean towards the Real Temp temp, but I just wanted to double check before trying to get more out of this CPU.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

Check out RealTemp's documentation page, which covers this topic in great detail.

Oh ok, I read the first page of that but I didn't look any lower. I was just concerned because under a stress test Core Temp would get up to 74C. So if I calibrate Real Temp properly I can assume that Core Temp doesn't take into account some of these things and reports wrong temps?

You can calibrate CoreTemp too. It also has a Vista Sidebar app (if you care about that).

Cool, a new temp program. Is this one considered more accurate than Coretemp? Just looking it up quickly on google says that it might just be... I think I'll stick with it because it doesn't give me those annoying driver errors like Coretemp in vista.

Are you guys using the latest CoreTemp? Version 0.99 I think... I just went back to CoreTemp from RealTemp, and I've had no problems (in Vista Ultimate, 32bit).

oh yeah, I stand corrected. On a side note I just downloaded the new version (i'd been using 0.95 and realtemp) and coretemps gone up to the same readings as realtemp now.

Well ,it's been a while since i've been involved in these sort of things. The last time I used Coretemp in Vista x64 it had issues.
