| hi, i was wondering if 3.0Ghz was possible on an e6600 using a Asrock CONROE945G Socket 775 with 667 mhz 2gb ram? | socket 939 junkie | it may be possible if your chipset will allow a 333mhz fsb (stock for a C2D is 266mhz x 4). if the chipset can run that, then you can put your ram on a 1:1 memory divider and it would still run at DDRII 667 (333x2) only way to find out is to try it :) if you have any questions, please share them and we'll do our best to help out :) |

| is the fsb of the mobo normally limited by the fact that it says it can handle 1066 mhz processors. the whole thing confuses me lol :( i just got the stuff yesturday and i was loking for a decent matx mobo for overclocking the e6600 to 3.0ghz and im doing a bit of research b4 i open it all and assemble the pc. | why don't you try tinkering with it for a while and don't worry before you burn something the computer won't let you reboot... ![]() Abit IP35-E C2D E6750 G0 @ 2.66ghz [TR Ultra120EX] EVAG 8800GTS [TR HR03] Corsair [2gbDual@800] 820GB HDD[120/200/500] Antec TP 550W Silverstone Temjin 09 Saitek Eclipse1 & Razer DeathAdder Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit |

| socket 939 junkie | unless your going to return the motherboard, i would tinker around with it and see what it can do. its not a bad looking board, its just that the 945 chipset isnt known for high overclocking. |

| ive decided to give it to my friend who like me is building an matx monster and the guy got 2.7 ghz out of it and i got £60 ... the world of trading is sheer bliss as the gigabyte is a known overclocker yet lacks the 1:1 multiplier so erm where do i go from here? and do i HAVE to change voltages to obtain 3.0/3.2 ghz? btw the board can hit 400 fsb+ Project Luxray Complete Intel E8500 ATI HD 4850 512mb Corsair HX 620W PSU Thermaltake Lanbox Lite DFI P45 T2RS LanParty Junior Corsair 2Gb 6400 4-4-4-12 timings Samsung 750 Gb Spinpoint F1 HD |

| Modder-ator | With an E6600, you might not have to up the voltage to reach 3.0GHz as that seems to be a fairly common milestone for those chips. As for the overclocking potential of the motherboard, it will depend completely on your particular hardware setup and your particular motherboard. I don't know anything about that particualr motherboard, but mATX motherboards are usually not known for overclocking potential... |
