Default OCing an E4300

OK, so yes I've asked this on another thread, but I am really having some trouble here guys. No matter what I do, the highest possible FSB is 1095 (2.46GHz CPU) stable. Increasing the voltage, loosening RAM timings and keeping the RAM speed as close to default as possible has done nothing. I have heard of people getting 3.0GHz to 3.3GHz stable with this CPU. Maybe a BIOS update would fix the problem? Maybe I got a faulty CPU? Maybe its a RAM or motherboard issue? What are your thoughts and suggestions on this extremely frustating and annoying problem.

First, scratch faulty. It's working at specified clock, it's not faulty.
Second, most E4300 do easily around 2.4 to 2.6ghz. Over that it starts being hard for quite a few CPUs.
Third, what are your settings? Chances are if you got a "slow" CPU you'll need around 1.4v to do 3Ghz. Around 1.5v for 3.3Ghz for most E4300s.

Anyway, write your settings here so we can help you, if there's actually any help we can provide...

the RAM timings are at 5-5-5-15 at 800MHz. CPU idling at 35C-37C. at load, 44C-47C

Well, how about my problem at hand? And what is a pin mod? Just wondering.

roger. At anyrate, to answer your question, a pinmod is when you add an extra pin into one of your extra holes. In this case, i can't rmb if it gives you extra multiplier or higher fsb, but it will bump your cpu to 2.4ghz. After that you could oc higher, but like caps said, it is pretty risky.

Extra pin? Extra holes? what extra holes? And what about OC help? Not to be rude or anything.

A pin mod is simply a mod that some people use to get extra performance, or function out of their processors....it requires you shorting a couple specific pins on your CPU.

Unless you really know what you are doing, or aren't afraid of possibly ruining some brand new, and expensive hardware, I'd skip this.

As to your problem at hand,.... I don't know......is your memory currently at 800, or is that where you started? If you started at DDR2-800 and have OCed your FSB to 1049 or whatever, then your memory is no longer at 800
