Default OCing again

i just started to OC my E6600 i was able to get 2997MHZ[3.0GHZ] stable
but the temp is practically crazy idling at 42-48C and at Itat 100% load 67-69C
i dont know whether i would down the CPU Volt or what...
and another weird thing under Bios Hardware Temp i'm idle at 30-32C???
i'm using the 2 GB Patriot RAM in my SIg at 1000MHZ 5-5-5-18
Zalaman 9700LED with STG1 thermal grease [ my AS5 was wasted, the silver and the oil separated for some reason...

here some pix:

Default Re: OCing again

i just lowered my CPU Volt at 1.36V from 1.40V earlier FSB at 335mhz, idle still at 42-50C
but with Orthos Stress Blend Test its hovering at 55-60C and with
IntelTAT 63-66C... RAM still at 1000MHZ 5-5-5-18

should i leave this running for 24 hours or should i find a way to lower temp first... this is pretty stable to
me other than the High Temps...???

That's the ticket right there too. Use the lowest voltage you can to get the overclock you want.

Q6600@ 3.2GHz w/ CNPS9700 | EVGA 780i | 2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 | EVGA GTX 280 1Gb Video | 1x WD 640Gb HDD, 2x Seagate 400Gb HDD, 1x250Gb WD | 2x Samsung SH-203B Opticals | Antec 900 | ABS/Tagan BZ700 700W PSU

Personally, anything in the mid to upper 50șC range is getting close to crossing the line for me. If it is stable, that is always a good start. The best way to lower temps is with better cooling, but like Quakin' said, lowering your voltage is the next best thing. I don't know if I would feel comfortable letting my computer run at 100% load for 24 hours with temps already at 57șC.

actually the temps are most possibly caused by my DS3 acting like a crap with Temp sensors... the finally OC i got was 3.024GHZ at 1.4V FSB335 with temp hovering at 66-69C with Itat 100% full bot cores load, and 55-59C with Orthos Blend CPU/RAM test at room temp of 73-75F with Zalaman 9700LED... it went 24 hours with out a glitch at Orthos test but i'm not comfortable doing Itat Dual Core 100% Full load at 24 hours, i think its time to take a new board. maybe by end of this year or early January...

To go too far is as bad as to fall short.

Default Re: OCing again

just want to revived this thread: here is my new OC, stable 24 hours with Itat 10 Hours and 13Hours Orthos Prime...

CPU-Z Validator Database

3.014GHZ at 1.47V
ambient room temp at 78F
Idle CPU Temp 33-38C sometimes it drops to 25-27C if the room temp drops...

i removed the Stealth GPU block because of defeating the purpose of lowering my CPU temps... so GPU is back at 50-56C idle... GPU loads with CSS Video stress test at 70-75C

i'm gana stay this way for a while till i get money for the new case...

i'm returning my P35-DS3R Rev2.0 due to i been tinkering with it for a week and it just wont let me OC it... and it basically runs everything hotter... i dont know that is the second Gigabyte Board that runs hot in temp so, i'm sticking with my DS3 965P....

after i get the money back from my return i will buy a 3D Aurora Case to house my H2O rig for now i'm using 8800GTS stock fans... till i get everything going again, i will settle down with this rig until next mid year...
