| I want a faster 6600gt. I want to try to max it out like i did my cpu. Any suggestions? I already did a basic overclock on it. What is this volt modding stuff and increasing the core voltage? I like my videocard but if i don't do something to it, i doubt i'm going to keep it for much longer. | Modder-ator | I'd say that core vs. memory clock bottlenecks are going to be more dependant on the type of card and architechture used rather than the brand. It just seems to be a brand specific thing because each company has it's own architechture with it's different overclocking performances. As far as getting a better overclock on your 6600GT, better cooling and volt modding are about your only options (short of just plain buying a better card). Just remember that volt modding can potentially ruin your card, ESPECIALLY if you don't have sufficient cooling... If you aren't willing to volt mod, then saving your pennies for a newer/faster/better card might be your only logical move... |

| volt modding will certainly help your overclock but i wouldn't expect too much. Maybe a couple more fps in a game. I would suggest finding the max overclock right now before volt modding and see if its actually worth it to go ahead and try. If you do not know your stuff, I would highly recommend NOT doing the mod. It is very risky and has the possibility to destroy your card. ![]() D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| cool. My videocard is pretty crap. It doesn't want to go any higher than 575. ![]() D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| is voltmodding going to help alot? I skimmed hte guide and it seems pretty darn complicated. But if this will save me a few more years before needing to upgrade, then i might consider it. | oh hell no. It won't save youa few more years, it might save a few more months or a year or two if it doesn't crap out by then. If you do a good successful volt mod, you can gain a fair bit of performance. Which guide did you read? I know ofone but i'd like to know you have read. ![]() D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| I don't know of any volt modding guides on OCF but I know that VR-Zone has a good one. http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=1636&s=1 they take the card to the limits on this one. ![]() D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |
