i have an intel e4300 core 2 duo on a asus striker extreme motherboard. i'm using a zalman cnps 9700 cpu cooler. i am currently overclocked at 3105mhz (345x9, windows reads 3.11ghz) at 1.3250v according to coretemp 0.96.1. coretemp is also showing my cores running at 59 degrees celcius at the moment while prime95 is stress testing with 2 threads running for only about 20 minutes now. the voltage i'm pretty sure is set to auto.. but i have no idea how to adjust it properly and when to go higher.. right now i am letting the stress test run for a while to make sure everything is stable. i'd currently like to get an even higher clock so i can get my windows experience index score up to 5.9 for the cpu. currently my WEI scores are: processor: 5.7 memory: 5.9 graphics: 5.9 gaming graphics: 5.9 primary hard disk: 5.6 i realize my base score will still remain 5.6 because of the hard drive, but i am going to try and swap the 2 hard drives i have (750gb and 400) as i remember the 400 was getting a 5.9. any help with doing all of this would be greatly appreciated. tia -kr0n

| 3.1GHz is pretty much the limit for the E4300. I got mine up to about 3.1GHz as well. I'm not sure if you really want to up the voltage anymore because those load temps are close to the limit. Either get a faster CPU (like the E8400) or live with it is my recommendation. | whats the temp limit? and what is the stock voltage for the e4300?? i only bought the e4300 as a temporary cpu for my build. i am going to get a quad core later on but i haven't done any research on it. currently the stress test is still running with no errors. just under an hour now and the temp is going between 56-61 degrees celcius with the zalman cranked up to the max. i have not seen it go above 61 yet. -kr0n |

The stock voltage for the E4300 AFAIK is 1.35V. Due to V-Droop it may be lower than that though. I try not to have my temps go above 50-60C at load. Download CPU-Z to find your voltage measurement. IMO, Coretemps isn't as accurate on that front. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB

cpuz reading: 3105mhz core speed bus speed 345 rated fsb 1380 core voltage 1.328 stress test just failed on thread 1. torture test ran for 1 hour 22 minutes 1 error 0 warnings. thread 2 is still going fine.. what should i do here? up the voltage a little? should i try backing the multiplier down and going at a faster bus speed?

Maybe up the voltage .01V from stock, but I wouldn't push it too much farther with those temps. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB

ok so in the bios change it from auto to 1.36? usually there are 2 voltages in the 1.36 range... something like 1.362 and 1.368... i'm assuming i should go with the lower number that is 1.36?

Yeah, 1.362V is fine... with V-Droop it ends up being about the same. Watch your temps closely though. E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB
