| I'm Diggin it! | Welcome to the forums LB! This is an outstanding place to be. I moved your post out of the thread you had originally posted it in and made you your own. In the future, when you want to ask about something as involved as this post is, please go to the forum directory, choose a sub-forum like Overclocking and start a new thread. This way, we can stay focused on each thread and not have three or four different people posting under one generic thread. Also, look at the bottom of my post for an idea of what to put in your signature line for your computer specs. We ask all new arrivals to make a sig line with this info so it's easier for us to help you. Just look up top on this page and click on User CP. Then, look on the left hand side of that page for Edit Signature.I have absolutely no experience with the motherboard you've listed, so will need to do some research on it. Hopefully, someone else here has the knowledge to help you along with this board. | Modder-ator | Yes, as Quakindude mentioned, make a signature to list us the rest of the parts in your system. Like the motherboard and processor, your memory and power supply are going to make a difference in overclocking success as well so we need to know what we are dealing with here so we don't give you bad advice based on assumptions ![]() Oh yeah... Welcome to HardwareLogic!!! :wavey: |

| Modder-ator | Well, your memory is definitely going to be the bottleneck here. If you want to try a little overclocking, don't expect much out of that system. Start by testing your system at stock speeds the way it is now to make sure everything is good and stable before you start changing stuff. I suggest Memtest86+, any of the Futuremark 3DMark or PCMark benchmarks, SuperPI, and Stress Prime. You don't have to use all of those apps, but they are the most popular. My favorite combination is to run Memtest first and let it complete at least two complete runs of all the tests (I think there are 8). Then boot it into Windows and run 3DMark06 or PCMark05. Then finish it off with either a 32M run of SuperPI or let StressPrime run overnight (6-12 hours). That will give you a very good idea as to the overall stability of your system. If all tests pass without freezing, crashing, or errors, then you are good to go. You can go into the BIOS and try increasing the Front Side Bus (FSB) of the system by 10 MHz and run through your stability testing suite again to make sure everything is still goin' good. If so, rinse and repeat by increasing another 5-10 MHz and testing for stability. Keep doing this until one of the tests errors out, then back it down to your last previously stable setting and report back here with your results. All the while, you need to make sure you monitor your processor's temperature. Do you have an Asus software application that monitor's your temperatures? |

| Modder-ator | I tried to download the manual for your motherboard to look at the BIOS options but the one available on Asus's website is only one random page showing the pinouts for the front panel audio internal connector! ![]() |
