Default Got a ~45% OC on the E2160

Hehe ... actually thats a ~45% OC

Doof goof.
E2160 ... Pretty impressed with this little chip ... could have taken it higher ... but I go with Intels Thermal analysis tool [TAT] which uses in core temp sensors and can show 10 degrees higher than other temp softwares. [Core temp must use same method tho]

Got 42/64 on idle/100% load ... super stable ... backed it down to 2.5Ghz and lightened up a few voltages a tad to get 41/62

All in a fairly poorly ventilated case [Only one 120mm exhaust and PS fan] and a $20 Heatsink [Kingwin "Direct touch" heatpipe Sink]

I gotta say ... that little chip has some serious headroom.

Based on how easy it was to OC and the mid effort, gear, and ventilation ... I would venture that a serious effort could eek out 2.8 GHZ on air and maybe 3 to 3.2GHZ on water.

Asus P5B Deluxe Mobo, 1GB GeiL PC2 8500

[My 13 yo Daughters new PC as replacement for an older dual P3 1.2ghz server]

I would say bring the under load temp to 59º stable and you have it set just right.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I'm thinkin I might already be there ... the AC5 has yet to cure and it is in a different room with cooler ambient ... I'll test again and post final temps.

Yup ... we're at 47 Idle and 58 degrees 100% Load with TAT
[I musta been off on my idle temps before]

That is in the normal room ambient.

i'm using this Petra's Tech Shop AC MX 2
i'm OC at 3.014GHZ at 1.47V, idle at 39-43C, full Itat 100% Load 52-57C
ambient room temp at 75-80F
i'm using H2O loop at my sig...
if your considering H2O only if you plan to stick with your rig for awhile under OC stable...
other than that if you will be only running it at stock stick with the normal HSF...

good luck

Nice 25% overclock on the E6600 ... heard they don't get much higher stable clocks even with H2O

Still ... a 45% OC on a 1.8GHZ with air and stable with low temps ...

I'm such a doof .... it's only 45% OC

I wish my E4300 would clock that high that well... the highest I ever reached
was 3.15GHz at 1.4v on water with idle temps in the 36-38C range and load temps in the 47-50C range, with CoreTemps monitoring the temperature.

Maybe I should sell my E4300 and get a E2160... What do ya think?
