Default EVGA 8800GT O/C

Hello, I was wondering how much can my 8800GT overclock? It's stock speeds are 600/1500/900. I overclocked it to 660, 1620, 954. Also i am running stock cooling. Idle temp is around 47-51 with 60% of fan, load i dont know. I am also shooting air at the video card with a house fan and my windows are open. Its quite cool in my room.

Rthdrbl is a nice way to check load temps: rthdribl - Real-Time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting 1.2 -

Just open up 4-5 copies of that and you should get a good idea.

As far as stability goes, I find the benchmarks built into crysis to be a really good bench, although I think there's a stess test built into ntune as well.

No one can tell. Each 8800GT is different and some are more lucky than others.

Shameless linking: Check my bios mod guide for more 8800GT adventures! :D

With default BIOS, I think mine maxed out in the 670-680mhz zone for the core.

No, since it was the "SuperClocked" edition.
650/950 and whatever linked shader from the top of my head. It shouldn't "really" matter though.

If it's stable (that's the real question), you're probably fine.

Well if you can't get any higher without having instabilities (there's a part in my guide about checking for heat and instabilities) and you want to go higher then you will need to get more voltage to the core.
There's not much you can do about memory however, normally 1050mhz is pretty much the highest I've seen for 8800GT's and putting more voltage doesn't help that type of memory to climb higher, so it's not worth the hassle modifying that part.

Talking about your memory, most if not all 8800GT i've seen with 1.0ns memory have no problem doing 1000mhz because that's what they are rated at. Some people have said that problems could occur in the long run for those running 1Ghz and over on the memory, something about the traces on the PCB getting problems and yadda yadda. Well respectable member Johny GURU is agreeing with this, and maybe even a "pioneer" of this saying, but I have a hard time agreeing with this so far, considering I've been running mine highly overclocked (specs in signature) with no problem or sign of deterioration.

Parker is currently attempting it, and frankly if you manually control your fan I don't think it should be problematic.
