E8400 OC world record!

my fellow Hungarians (I'm half hungarian :P ) just made an OC world record of the new E8400 processor. it seems the E8400 is an OC champion and will be the favourite CPU of those who like to get the most for their buck and are on a budget...

it seems this new 45nm, 3Ghz CPU can easily break 4Ghz on air because of the much lower temps then its 6xxx 65nm predecessors.... and there is the added bonus of the SS4.1 instructions and 6MB of L2 cache

Nice. I'd be happy with it running at 3.5 GHz, 5 + GHz is insane.

if it is 45nm, wouldn't it be 8450 or 8420 now??

I think only if it were a second revision 45nm chip. The first Conroe version was E6x00 and the second version with the faster FSB was E6x50. So I'm assuming that since this is the first spin of 45nm, they just get the E8x00 numbering. But if they do another run with a 1600MHz FSB or something, they will probably be E8x50 chips. This is just a guess though...

Ehh nothing special these chips have only been around a few weeks, 6GHz will be had soon enough.

It wasn't sbohdan's chip. He's half Hungarian and found a news story about this on a Hungarian website.

If this was a video card though, he may have been the overclocker!
