Exclamation CPU PROBLEM

Hi all, i ran sandra and i got this message..... Warning W5003 - the benchmark has tested the primary CPU only. This may not reflect the total power of the system
Fix: Turn on the multi-processor option. You need to use Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 and the multi-processor kernel to use the other processors....... i have attached pics for you to review

your probably getting that reading because your running a Pentium 4 with hyper threading. Its not an actual dual core cpu but rather has a neat little feature that lets it run two threads at once.

Press control shift and escape. Once the ask manager comes up, how many graphs do you see? There should be 3.

For one your CPU is underclocked as it is (or speedstep has lowered the multiplier). CPU-z is showing the cpu speed at 2812MHz instead of 3400MHz. This is likely because the multiplier needs to be set to 17.

To get 4GHz, the cpu fsb needs to be about 235MHz but you need to change the fsb/ram bus ratio to 1:1. This also means the memory will be slightly underclocked at 235 instead of 266.

If you choose to go this route, start with setting the ratio to 1:1, this underclocks the memory bus to the same as cpu fsb at 200Mhz. Then change the cpu fsb up by 5MHz at a time and run an hourlong benchmark like Prime95 or the CPU burnin with Sandra... so 5MHz bump, benchmark... 5MHz, benchmark... the point at which the system crashes or seems unstable, kick it back down 10MHz and you have the highest stable OC.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

there is an entry in the bios that states the multiplier...

generally it is better to not try overclocking without taking lots of time to make sure everything is stable..

also if it is an OEM like Dell, HP, Compaq, Lenovo, etc they almost never have any overclocking options
