Wink Corsair XMS2 PC2-8500C5 timings

Ok i have 2x 1GB Corsair XMS2 PC2-8500 and yes I know I know I've asked about this before, but could people help me on various 2T timings i can test out. The only ones i know by heart are 4-4-4-12, 5-5-5-12, 5-5-5-15, 5-5-5-18!

Could anyone tell me other timings that I can test out?? I want high frequencies such as 1000, 1066, 1120, and even 1152.

I don't know how to overclock ram or set timings, but I do know how to test them with Memtest86+ and SuperPi. I just need help with this so I can finally maximize my computers performance.

I really wanna learn how to overclock RAM so in the future I can do things on my own or even just teach others who have the same concerns as I do. I just wanna understand and learn the art of oc'ing ram. First step for me is all that "3-4-3-12" "3-3-3-9" Stuff like that!

Can someone just give me a list of various timings I can test out. That will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The best, and only way is to tweak and test different settings yourself. You have the typical settings that people use, but every kit is different....what one person can achieve with that kit will be completely different than what you might achieve.

the only way to learn is to try different things on your own, write down the results, and compare them to what others are seeing.....stop at each setting and check for stability, then push on a little more

The thing i noticed with tight timings at high memory frequencies doesn't really change a thing. My Bank Cycle is still high at 31!! When I'm at 800mhz though @ 5-5-5-15 or 4-4-4-12 timings T1 my Bank Cycle is @ 22... Do you guys think i should just downclock the memory?

Best memory performance is achieved when running 1:1 with the FSB. If it means downclocking with tighter timings then so be it.

that true if you are running like clock speeds.

The most important thing is CPU speeds, everything else is secondary. If you need to run a divider to push your memory farther, thats fine......limiting your processor to your memory specs because you \want 1:1 is really limiting your OC, and dropping your memory divider too much means you are going to bottleneck the bandwidth.....so the best answer is to run 1:1 as far as possible, then drop the divider only as much as you have to to get the most out of your processor

Ok well i tested more timings out and so far the ones that past are 4-4-4-10, 4-4-4-8, 4-4-4-6, but the ones that failed all started with 3 such as timings like 3-4-3-12, 3-4-4-12, 3-4-3-10 etc. Is 4-4-4-6 fine or could i do something else like 4-3-4-6? I just figured out my ram can't go any lower than 4 so what is the best rated value for "4" timings??

DDR2-1066 can run 1:1 at 533FSB:)

So 400FSB x 9 = 3600. Running this memory at 1:1 at it's stock speeds is around 4.6GHZ E6600. <------ GEt out the dry ice!

At Pbirmingham: run the highest frequency possible with lowest possible timings. Perhaps somewhere around DDR800 with CAS 4 is a good place to start... Run benchmarks like Sandra, as they are test of memory bandwith...
