Default Any Q9450 OC results yet?

I haven't found any reviews or decent OC results. Please post if you have a link or experience.

Just hoping they can break 3.8ghz on air. [8 X 475]

I may splurge if it is an easy OC

TGD, i'm actually running 3.8GHz right now with liquid cooling. under stress tests, my load temps hit the mid 50's so its well below the thermal spec (71C) of this chip. i'm sorry i haven't conducted any air tests but i could if you are seriously considering this purchase and ask really nicely

XD

Thanks Raid ... I wouldn't ask you to do air tests. It does help knowing what a water system can do though.

I can extrapolate that with a solid air unit ... 3.4-3.5 GHZ could be obtainable.[with a good chip]

I have been hesitating on the buy ... and may skip it ... My next CPU kinda needs to be able to do 3.8 ghz to 4.5 Ghz on air.

I may wait till the E8400's price to $185

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550/Q9450 - 45nm Prevails :: Articles :: www.hardwarezone.com®

Only article I know of, and it doesn't cover overclocking as its more of a comparison.

Thanks Storm ... The deal at Microcenter will likely die soon ... I been holding back the trigger all day.

Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping

=Q9450 for $299 before shipping.

I have the ultra nasty flu [4th day of fever and sweats] ... so my thinking ... I'm sure isn't all that clear ...

I needed a benchmark of value ...

Personally I'm waiting for Nehalem before I do anything, but I think the 8x multi would really chain these chips down like RAID brought up when we talked. 3.5 seems doable with a good air cooler, but the chip would probably get into the high 60's under load....and then theres the factor of the motherboard probably holding it back, I don't know how well the P35's will do with the new quads, but I've seen even the 790i's struggling to try and get past or around 500MHz on the FSB.

believe me, i'm fighting the good fight on that one. there's a wall right around 490 with this quad and others i've seen on the web. i've been able to post into 4GHz but lockups shortly follow.

and its worth noting that the chip itself doesn't require much voltage or gets very hot at all. its basically trying to find the right combo to reach stability with vcore, pll, vtt, and nb volts.
