Default What is the fastest hardwere to fold on...?

the most powerfull hardware is still the mighty GPU (preferably radeon 1800 and up). the new ATI2900 is said to be 50 times faster than a regular P4, so if any of you has this new baby, come and join the folding team and leave the rest of us in the dust

the second fastest choice is the PS3 (is anyone using one for folding here?)

the third would be SMP folding with dual core CPU's

and the fourth choice for speed would be regular folding client use with a CPU...

Main rig:
Chieftec modded case,MSI P4N Diamond, D830@3.48Ghz,1.4V,928FSB
2GB patriot Extreme Performance 6400@900Mhz, 4-4-4-17
Inno3D 7900GT@542Mhz/1.6Ghz, Thermalright SI-97
Samsung 320GB, Maxtor 250GB; Antec 500W
Swiftech NB, Asus StarIceBlue CPU cooler; XP Pro

Laptop: Dell XPS 1530 (T7500; 3GB 667 RAM; 160GB 7200rpm HDD; 8600GT; Vista 32bit)

I would say something like dual AMD Phenom FX quad cores (like QuadFX) with dual X2900XT's w/ GDDR4. That would give you dual smp clients.

The greatest proof that intelligent life exists is the fact that they haven't tried to contact us yet.

I'm sure the PS3 is one of the most superior machines to do F@H on. Its cell processor is a BEAST!

If you choose to join us, we are team 50578
It is a small but strong group, we are currently ranked 753 out of untold hundreds of thousands. I myself just added a second Core2, a E2140 so that should help keep the team going nicely.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

are you using the regular client or the SMP client? if you have the SMP, go to the folding folder under Program Files and run the install.bat first... also you will have to make sure that .NET Framework 2.0 is installed from Windows Update

Thanks HL and Corsair!
