| Welcome to the HardwareLogic Folding@Home Team! (Team 50578) Here you will find information about the Folding@Home team as well as the Folding@Home project itself. Team Information: Team number: 50578 Total # of members: 33 Active members: 8 Statistics pages: HardwareLogic stats @ Stanford Hardwarelogic stats @ [H]ard|Folding.com Hardwarelogic stats @ Extremeoverclocking Hardwarelogic stats @ kakaostats client support for: windows (98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista), MacOS, Linux, ATI GPU's (1600 through 1900 series) and the new GPU2 BETA client (2xxx and 3xxx series), multicore SMP, PS3 CURRENT PROJECTS AND PROGRESS TO DATE:
Useful Links: Folding@Home Project Home Page Learn more about the project here. Folding@Home Download Page Start Folding by downloading the client here. Folding@home - DownloadWinOther ...or get a high performance client (GPU, GPU2, PS3, SMP) for greater scores ![]() FAHMON Download Page Use FAHMON to monitor your progress ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Beginner's Guide to Folding By WhiteEagle If you want to get started folding, here are some tips and an installation guide to get you started. Tips 1. Disable your screensaver. This is no longer necessary on most screens now, and only takes up CPU cycles, which could be used for F@H. 2. Disable any modes on your PC. A PC that's not running folds as well as a rock. Instead, lock your computer when you aren't using it.3. Try to run your computer 24/7. It won't add much more to your power bill, and the reason is the same as for tip #2. 4. Scan your computer for viruses and malware. This stuff takes away valuable resources and CPU cycles, so find and remove it. note: we do recommend the use of high performance GPU, SMP or PS3 clients for 4x and up to 40x performance increase. for this you need to download the high performance client that suits you but remember that the much higher scores come with tighter deadlines for the WU's, so this is for those who fold 24/7 ![]() Install Guides For single core processors: 1. Download the client from Stanford's website. 2. Cut and paste it into a folder (after creating it) named FAH. This helps keep all of the necessary files together in the same spot. 3. Double-click on the installer to start it. When it asks for username, type in your folding name. It must be longer than 3 letters and numbers. When it asks for team number, type in 50578. Use the defaults for the rest, and when it asks to install as a service, choose yes, so that it will automatically start-up whenever you restart your PC. 4. Congrats! You are complete. Welcome to F@H! For two or more cores and/or processors: 1. Download the client like above for single core installation. 2. Create enough folders, and name them FAH#, where # is the number of the current core. 3. Cut and paste the client into each folder. Then create a shortcut for the client in each folder. 4. Go into the properties of the client and add to the target line -local. This will ensure that each client uses its files only, 5, Follow the installation instructions above for single core processors, except also go into advanced properties and set the ID number in each to the current core number. 6. Congrats! You are done. Welcome to F@H! note: we do recommend the use of the SMP client for those who have a multi core CPU and are ready to fold 24/7 Download HEREthe installation for the SMP client is different then for the regular client above. HERE is how to install it. For radeon X1xxx series cards (GPU folding): GPU folding - FAQ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS GPU and OS support Which cards are supported? We now support serveral classes of GPU boards, including X1600, X1800, and X1900 class GPU's from ATI. At the launch, we supported X1900 cards only. X1800 cards do not provide the performance seen in X1900's and so we strongly recommend X1900 class cards (although we now officially support X1800). X1900 and X1800 cards are actually quite different -- they have different processors (R520, R530 vs. the R580 [in the X1900 series]). The R580 makes a huge difference in performance -- its 48 pixel shaders are key, as we use pixel shaders for our computations. Also note that the card should have more than 256MB (i.e. at least 512MB) of RAM, otherwise the GPU client will put a huge load on the client machine (although we do note that the 256MB X1950Pro using PCIe does work reasonably well). update: the new GPU2 BETA client that supports the 2xxx and 3xxx ATI GPU's Download HERE Folding on Linux: Linux regular client installation guide Linux SMP folding guide: Linux SMP quick-install instructions Windows SMP FAQ and guide: Folding@home on multi-core/SMP Boxes PS3: PS3 FAQ and here: PS3 FAQ 2 ![]() I Like Watercooling.
