Default PS3 client officially announced...

http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/070315e.pdf

pic:

does anyone here have a PS3 those things fold like crazythey also look very cool
would be nice if someone could have one of these to fold for our team i
anyone

just a little taste of how much folding power this means:
Quote:
PS3's represent 7.73% of the machines folding at the time I took the OS based statistics, and they provided 61.72% of the folding GFLOPS!
Basically, each PS3 is capable of almost 25X the floating point performance of the "average" Windows PC of all the PC's taking part in the effort, pulling in an excellent 24.48GFLOPS per PS3 unit.

Looks like I'll have to add at least 4 PS3's to my personal collection after I move out and get DSL.

Ya as I said in another thread, I'm tempted to buy a PS3 only to fold.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

Sweet, as long as I can still play my games at the same time then I like this client. My family has been looking at some of these consoles since my dad wants to buy a new TV. If the PS3 can do this without overheating or damaging itself then I'll get it.

I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220

of course it can do it without damage. it is incorporated into the PS3 by sony (read the link at the top of my post). also: times for the average WU are calculated based on partial use only (it includes playing of course). stanford actually promises to raise the point value for PS3 WU's because of the fact that most people will use it for gaming and only short periods in average would be used for folding (of course if you fold 24/7 than your PPD would rise a lot). I read about some fanatical folders who actually confiscated their kids PS3 to fold 24/7
I'm not sure but far as I know there are 7 or 8 cores in the PS3. don't ask me if all are working
on the WUs or just one of them because I don't know - but seeing the performance I would assume that all of them work on 1 WU at the same time.
