Default HELP!!!!!

I'm having all kinds of problems over the past couple of weeks. I've deleted and redownloaded the client and keep on getting nowhere. When I first did the download everything was great, but now I can't seem to get a single WU to finish.?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bailey.

Are you using XP or Vista first?
Second, post your logs from your F@H program.
Third, calm down. We'll help you get rid of this pest of a problem.

post your log with the [code] tags around it... also which client, the console or GUI? and is it standard or Windows SMP or GPU?
Is the system stable after running tests like Prime95 for a few hours or keeping TAT (if Intel) set to 100% for a few hours?

Pretty much all of the full folding workunits need several days to a week to finish the whole thing and send the results in. My P4 1.8 has been getting some that take it an entire week to finish for 459 points (60 points per day aka ppd).

Okay! I'm taking a deep breath and a drink. I'll see if I can get a screen shot here in just a minute. I'm running XP SP2. It is a standard client and it's unit3042 if that helps any. It has reastarted like 5 times now. I guess maybe I'm just paranoid.

have you restarted it or has it done it on its own?
is it the Graphical client (GUI with the molecules displayed) or is it the console that shows either in a command windows or hidden in the background as a service?

Heres how mine is setup using the XP Console as a service:

When I First started it was GUI. Now I have it set up just like yours. It has restarted all on it's own. I can't get a screen shot for some reason now or access the logs. I don't know if I should just wipe it all out and start from scratch or what.?? I feel pretty crappy because I haven't finished a WU in like 2 weeks now. I'm really getting into this whole thing. I hope to have my new router set up tomorrow and have my wifes computer folding also. I just don't understand what went wrong

wait, you can't access the logs? Are you sure you know what your looking for?

Go to the folder you have the client in. Lets say it was "C:\Program Files\Folding@Home"

Go to that folder and you'll find a file called "FAHlog.txt" as well as possible "FAHlog-Prev.txt." Those are the logs that you need to post

question, are you trying to start the command prompt window while it is running as a service? It will not start up that way... or if you try to open the GUI while it is running in a prompt or service it will not work right then either.

Sometimes it is best to start over.
Go to start -> run -> type: services.msc -> scroll down until you see FAH@C:\..... click that and stop the service. Close the services window. Delete the entire Folding folder.
Then Create a new one directly under C: called FAH
go to the folding website and download the "Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista
"No nonsense" text-only console" and save the file (FAH504-Console.exe) into the new FAH folder. Then right click this file and create a shortcut to the desktop. Right click the shortcut, choose properties and change the target so it shows something like this:
"C:\FAH\FAH504-Console.exe" -configonly

Then once thats applied, double click it and enter the information like I mentioned above. Once that is done, restart the computer and let her fly!

Thanks HL and Corsair!

hm - did you try the things that were suggested here? one of the main reasons this forum exists is to help it's members. so don't give up just yet. ask questions and we will help. besides - I don't think those guys at the repair shop would even know what folding is
