Couple Sues Google Over "Street View" - April 4, 2008

OK, it's kinda lame but I thought it was funny.

The Borings (no, really, that is their name) are suing Google claiming invasion of privacy for the "street view" of their house. They say having pics of their house available online has caused them "mental suffering" and diminishing the value of their property.

In an ironic twist, The Smoking Gun picked up the lawsuit, in which the Borings put their address) and posted not only the Google Street Views but also a pic and details from the county assessors office.

So in suing to protect their privacy they've only managed to publicize their address and get their photos viewed by more people. I'd have to say any mental suffering probably came way before the Google pics.

A friend of my family who happens to be a doctor pays just under a quarter of a million dollars a year for malpractice insurance.

Laugh if you want, but we have a problem in NJ - malpractice rates got so out of hand (thanks to juries handing out irresponsible verdicts) that many doctors left the state rather than pay the premiums. so who ends up paying? Me, the consumer - fewer doctors means more expensive doctors.

This state is so messed up I can't stand living here! Still, it's better than NY!

no kidding... can't afford medical care even in emergencies, can't afford medical insurance because they charge you an arm and a leg for what little they do cover...
I think it is a matter of a chicken and the egg... doctors charge more because they can and people sue doctors because they can, and insurance companies charge lots for little coverage because they can...
Yeah thats like me suing the surgeon and hospital because after 2 weeks the surgery my daughter had is not healed or doesn't look good yet.... or a stitch came out and she needs a second one.... mental and physical anguish!!
