This problem is worrying me alot so here it goes;

I installed my new stuff as in my sig and downloaded CPU-Z to look if it was all there and I noticed two things;
1, the multiplier keeps changing between 6 and 8 making my clock speed 2ghz then 2.6 ghz
2. my voltage is also out of control, its jumping up and down like mad. its set to 1.28 I think and ive seen it drop to 0.97 (never over 1.28)

I also got a new power supply (OCZ 600w GameXstream). This system is stable though, no problems so far.

EDIT its like its thermal throtling but the temps are around 30c (its a cold day here)

Could it be that I need to flash my BIOS as this is a fairly new CPU and maybe an old BIOS version?

I found that it says the E6750 is only supported with the F3 BIOS and I have F2. Can someone please talk me through updating the BIOS useing @BIOS utility? I dont want to screw this up.

Speedstep is enabled. When the cpu is idle or not being used, it will lower it's frequency. Nothing to worry about.

On that Gigabyte board, make sure you disable the following if you are worried about clock speed (although its actually a good thing):

CPU Enhanced Halt (CE1)
CPU Thermal Monitor 2 (TM2)
CPU EIST Function

as to flashing the BIOS, you'll need to copy the new BIOS file to a floppy. Enter the BIOS menu and push F8, which will take you to the Q-Flash menu....and just follow the directions.

When you are done, reboot, and then shut down, clear the BIOS, and make the BIOS adjustments you want.

CPU-Z is NOT the best way to check voltages, in fact in my own experience is the the WORST way to check voltages, and it's very inaccurate. Check your voltages in the BIOS.

There is no good way to check voltages through software. It's fine to use if you're only using it for comparative measures with the same hardware and don't take it them literally, but if you want to check your actual voltages coming from rails you should use a multimeter.

How do I flash the BIOS without a floppy drive as I dont own one anymore? Is downloading off the internet using @BIOS as safe as Q-Bios?

I've used those several of those Windows based BIOS flashing apps (including the Gigabyte one) without issue. You should be safe.

Yeah at this point the Windows flash is considered fairly safe. You can also do it from a cdrom...just get a DOS boot CD and throw your new version on it along with their provided flash utility.

Ok thanks I'll do that another time but now ive got yet another question. My temps sound compleatly wrong. remember these are at .098v and 2000mhz as I kept those things on in the end.
Intel thermal analysis idle - CPU 0 9c CPU 1 10C
load they go up to about 34c. Room temps about 7c as its very cold here today.
