Default Sticking M key

My manager just install a wireless logitech keyboard. The "m" key sticks. Once you touch the key, it hesitates then repeats 4 or 5 more m's. I have tried compress air on the keyboard no help. What other things should I try?

If it's a new keyboard, don't even touch it. Replacement is in order.

If it's not new, then I recommend opening the case (carefully!) and cleaning the key with a damp cloth. Just make sure you take note of exactly where everything goes so you can put it back together correctly ;-)

If it wasn't wireless I would say throw it in the dishwasher. Since it is, Yuri's advice is best, if you can't return it.

Isopropyl (Rubbing) Alcohol works real well as long as you use something that will not leave lint behind. It evaporates quickly and leaves no residue which is good for electronic equipment. We always keep a bottle at work for cleaning keyboards, mice, and other things that people dirty up.

With keyboards I have found that a fair amount of the time when you have a key that is sticking that you need to pop the key off to get at the root of the problem. Most standard keyboards the keys pop of fairly easy. My suggestion is to use needle nose or some other type of plier to pull the key off rather than trying to pry it. Once you are done you just press the key down and you will feel/hear it snap back into place. Again, this is on a standard style keyboard, some of the newer types are a little different.

As said before though, if it is under warranty leave it alone. Of course depending on what has happened to the keyboard can cause the keyboard waranty to be voided, such as a whole can of pop. I think Logitech is pretty good about it their warranty.

I'd say to tell your boss to quit fapping into the keyboard at work ;)

What board is it? If its <20 bucks unscrew it and clean it with a Q-Tip soaked in alcohol
