Default Soundblaster X-Fi

Ok so ever since i switched my MB to the P5K, my Soundblaster X-Fi doesn't seem to be working correctly. The audio seems a bit lagged, happens in both Vista and XP. Worked fine with my P5N-E SLI, but in this P5K it just wont work. Tried the latest creative drivers, the CD drivers, nothing seems to work. Read up on google it could be the PCI not offering enough power? How do i tweak that? If i use the onboard audio, there's no audio lag so the thing has to be the X-Fi card or connection.

If thats what is causing the issue, you can bump the SB Voltage, or ICH....depending on how its labeled in the BIOS. The SB Voltage controls the PCI-E slots (except the x16 Graphics) and the PCI slots, among other things.

I wouldn't bump it more than .1

Have you tried another PCI slot? I'm using an X-Fi card, and have never experienced such an issue.

You are 100% correct I did some digging, and there is no voltage setting for the SB chipset.

That board seems to have a few voltage problems.

I have used this Xfi with 3 boards now without a problem: Asus A7N8X, GA-965P-DS3 and now GA-EP35-DS3P. One thing I would look for in the BIOS is disabling the onboard sound.

Thanks HL and Corsair!
