Default Sound Card problem?

My husband is having issues with his computer. He's too proud to come here and ask but here's the symptoms.

He has a SoundBlaster Live Sound Card...bought a couple months ago.

He was playing EQ2 and running either Ventrilo or Windows Media Player and Ventrilo or media player will crash. He's run the diagnostics on his card and it should that DirectSound failed but he's got the latest Direct X.

He's reformated, he's tried uninstalling and removing his SoundBlaster Card and using the onboard sound and it happens there too.

He's running XP has DirectX 9, latest drivers for everything. Game isn't crashing.

I don't know what other info to give you so if you have questions, please ask away and I'll do my best to pry the answers out of him.

Default Re: Sound Card problem?

I had a similar problem with vista.I stumbled upon this fix,and have no clue why it had changed...but nonetheless it is fixed.I right clicked on the speaker on the bottom right of the desktop.Clicked on playback devices and had to change where the sound came from.I had to get a green check mark by the speakers.Somehow, there was a green check by digital output device and I had no sound.I'm sure others with your same OS can further help you.Tell the hubby he is more than welcome to stop on by...we dont bite. There's alot of good people here and they are always willing to help. And thank you for stopping by as well!

Have him try this too.
