| And I couldn't even begin to guess where the problem lies. The last few times I've powered on my system, I notice that, in sucession, the mobo splash screen, the post/boot screens, the Windows boot and "Welcome" screens all appear larger than normal at first and then seem to zoom backwards to a normal view. Then the desktop appears a little off center, and slowly moves into normal position. I've also observed some of the screens appear to shake and wobble a bit. I don't know if this is a monitor problem, or the video card - the HDD, a CPU issue or what... Anyone have any ideas? Have you ever heard of this happening before? If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! Last edited by Gig-O-Ram; March 5th, 2008 at 18:38. | ||||||||||||||

| Sounds like typical CRT behavior to me. It's dying out, they often start doing that "a while" before going out on you/becoming unreadable. ![]() If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you? | ||||||||||||||

| if it is a CRT, check for speakers, desk fans, floor fans, anything with a magnet nearby... even if it is a set of regular desk speakers, they may have lost their sheilding and may be causing it. Otherwise the CRT is on its way out. if it is a LCD then it may be on its way out as the auto-calibration, auto-configuration or auto-center function is messing up. Also if you have a KVM switch, take that out of the mix first and formost ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. | ||||||||||||||

| My monitor is in fact a CRT, and I do have several speakers near it - all of them actually. I have four (two on either side) sitting next to it, and one sitting on top of it. But they have been like that forever, and I just noticed this happening recently. But it wouldn't surprise a bit if the monitor was on its way out, since it's at least 4 to 5 years old. I guess if my screen melts away on me, I'll know. I've wondered if the monitor wasn't starting to have problems, because my desktop icons and even apps look a bit on the blurry side. If it's not fixed, then don't broke it! | ||||||||||||||
