Default Sigh

It sucks so bad....came home, hit the power button and as usual, my fans kicked on and i was getting ready to settle in for some night of CoD4 and Sins of a Solar Empire. To my dismay, all I got was a black screen....hmm, I said to myself, that's weird...So i try to hard boot, and nothing happens...ok, that's really weird. So after I pull the plug, I look into the case...*sigh* There's is gook on my video card, about a 3 inch radius...my cooling block has gook, my hoses have bubbles in 'em, there's gook on my wi-fi card...at this point, my mouth is wide open in disbelief. somehow my block/hose leaked and dripped down to my vid card. i spent hours cleaning it, cleaning the inside of the pci express socket, the heat sink was crammed with gunk. i have no idea what happened(i checked for leaks afterwards and cannot see any fluid-the gunk that was all over wasn't exactly in liquid form, it was like, not to be nasty, but it was like mucos. so maybe it got hot then cooled and tried to solidify?). anyway, i shut my puter off last night about 1am. no problems, i try to run it today and nothing. so now, my puter will turn on, but no hard drive activity, no picture. i removed my ram and started it up to see if the alarm would sound...nothing. i reinstalled the vid card without the power to it(i believe for the fan), and there was an alarm. so, at least something is working. I kind of know that my MB is probably toast, but how can i be absolutely sure? When i connect power, the light on my mobo lights up green. the only way i can turn off the pc is disconnecting the power by pulling the plug. I know i just wrote a short essay, but I just wanted to get an opinion other than my own. I'm going to have to get a new mobo, aren't I?

so you're saying the 'gook' is different from your coolant?

Man, that sucks. That kind of thing is the only thing holding me back from giving W/Cing a try.

Oh, and test it by taking it out of the case and having absolutely nothing on it. Plug it into a PSU and try to turn it on. If it turns on and gives beeps, it may not be dead.

the gunk is the coolant, it just kind of solidified somehow...it was really weird. Kind of like syrup..more like, not to be disgusting, snot. I have never seen that before. I will take everything out and try the mobo on it's own. Man...this really sucks not having a rig to jump on. I'll give that a go in a few. Thanks!
