Default Screen goes black?

this is for my friend. He is not sure what computer he has but i took a quick look and this is what i think it is.

It said AMD on the heatsink and i took a quick look and it said 2800+

I'm supposing that it is a s754 platform with a sempron 2800.
The mobo is some agp mobo.
and he used to have a radeon 9550 until he bought his 6600gt agp.
However, when he uses teh 6600gt sometimes there are black outs like the screen stops responding. This usually happens during load. (not sure if that would be apppriate term but when watching and streaming videos, playing games, etc.)
I have a feeling it has to do with a crappy psu.
The psu is by some company called CRT and it said 370 watt but i saw some equation thingy and it was like 370 x blah blah = 200watt.

Now, if i can figure out what wrong and recommend how to fix it, i get his 9550 pro. =) any ideas?

Since he went from an ATI to an nVidia card, did he thoroughly uninstall the previous display drivers? I'd have him run DriverCleaner and eliminating that possibility before moving on to hardware issues.

Probably the driver like everyone says but check your connections too. Video card and cables including monitor cable.

Like has been said, def clean system of previous drivers.
There is a possibility it is the PSU.

I have a good feeling its th PSU. Try the drivers first, if they don't work, thats the second most likely problem. When Justin first contacted me about this, the psu was my first thought. I have a 6600GT in another system and I recommend having atleast a 250W of high quality.
