Default resolution problem

Hi fellas,

I just picked up a EVGA Geforce 8800gt 512, just installed the newest forceware drivers. Performance is fine--it's just that I have only a few options for resolutions, in game, and in windows:

800x600 1024x768 1152x864 1280x720 1280x960 1280x1024 1600x900 and 1680x1050. With a Sceptre X20G Naga3 LCD 16:9 moniter. This seems strange to me. With my old card I had a wide range of resolutions. All the drivers are properly installed, moniter included. Shouldn't this gpu have a bunch of different resolutions; for example, 1360x768?

C

AMD Athlon64 X2 3800 (Manchester) @ 2500
ATI A8R-MVP
2gb Mushkin extreme XP4000 DDR @ 250*2 (3-4-3-8)
Geforce 8800gt 512
Coolermaster Praetorian 730/Aquagate Mini R80

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

It does. It's also what resolutions your monitor supports.
As for your monitor, it's a 16:10 and not a 16:9 with a native resolution of 1680x1050. All seems fine to me. :)

For best performance you should run at native resolution. You're card is more then powerful enough to run most games at 1680X1050.

Mint thanks for the responses guys. What games are you guys playing? Crysis is kicking the pants off my system :(.

By the way, does anyone have a STALKER saved game they can send to me? One preferably in that big city before Chernobyl. Damn mission system was broken the last time I played and I couldn't get the best ending.

Crysis is an exception, its an example of software thats ahead of the hardware. Ive been playing team fortress 2 alot lately, but also call of duty 4 and I had a quick match on supreme commander the other day. All 3 are great games. Im not a big fan of crysis, and ive got that disk drive problem so I dont like to use it

Crysis is extremely demanding, so I'm not surprised at all.
I've been playing Assassin's Creed after being too curious not to get it a week or so ago. It's a good game, somewhat repetitive but in my opinion with quite a terrible ending that was so obvious the whole time. Amazing graphics, custom engine developed by Ubisoft with help of Havok.
Something else to look out for is Turok. Cool game, not a super hit but not bad either. I think it's very enjoyable but a bit too easy, except for a few parts at "inhuman" difficulty. Used Unreal Engine 3, so graphics are pretty good.
If you're more into racing games, albeit getting a bit old now Colin McRae DiRT is an awesome game. Gamepad/wheel STRONGLY suggested to play this game, else I can't imagine how hard it would be. It's more of a rally simulator than anything else.
A nice game that got out earlier this game that is very enjoyable would be Frontlines: Fuel of War. Again another game using Unreal Engine 3.

there are quite a few that play COD4 here on PC and Xbox, we also have a following of SOSE (Sins of a Solar Empire), SupCom (Supreme Commander), a few WoW players and the rest is a mixed bag

Thanks HL and Corsair!
