Default Reinstal OS after MB swap

My step-son is getting ready to RMA a motherboard . He is going to get back the same make and model MB . Is he going to have to reinstall windows to get it to work right or since its the same type of MB should it be ok? He dosent have another computer he can put his hard drive into to change anything .

Should be fine, unless there were major revisions between the board you sent and the board receive. Very very unlikely though.

Yeah if its the same board, shouldn't have an issue. Now, if you're swapping a board, then you may have some problems. Just make sure all the ports are connected the same exact order (sata HDs, etc).

Even if it is not in exact order, there may be some driver reinstalls needed but otherwise there should be no need to reinstall windows if it is the exact same model motherboard. I was even able to go from a gigabyte P965 to a P35 board without reinstalling windows but this is more of the exception than the rule..
