Default Rayman Raving Rabbids and Vista woes

So I'm testing this game before installing on the family computer. It seems to work fine, except for one thing.
The graphics are insane. Insane by going too fast, way too fast.
How fast? Enough that when you press down in the menus, it scrolls 5 entries. Rayman is totally uncontrollable.
I've tried XP compatibility mode with the various exe's in the Rayman directory, but Rayman uses a launcher type of exe so I'm not sure it's having any real effect.
The graphics slow down a bit when I force vsync via the Nvidia panel, however they are still too fast.

Anyone has an idea?
I've checked the FPS and FRAPS tells me it's only 80fps. However it's clearly much more than that that.

Edit: Here's a quick clip I've recorded. This is real time gameplay, with me quickly tapping the direction keys.

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

That's indeed pretty crazy. :P
I tried, problem doesn't seem to happen under XP. I would still like to find a solution though, for the sake of it. There's also King-kong which uses the same engine, and though it isn't installed at the moment (I can't install it because of a problem in the installshield installer using the same GUID for King-kong and Rayman, good job guys!) I think this could happen with it too.

I've went further and disabled threaded optimization, fiddled with just about anything in Nvidia control panel. No dice.

Have you tried messing with affinity settings and disabling all but one CPU core for Rayman (or is that what you were referring to with 'threaded optimization')? You can also play with CPUKiller, but I don't think it's free.

Yep i've messed affinity. Nothing.
As for threaded optimization, check your Nvidia control panel per game settings, you'll see what I mean. I know a lot of older games will stutter if threaded optimization is on. :)
I would prefer to use a program to bug down the CPU, it's nothing very reliable. It's strange because this doesn't happen at all under Windows XP, only in Vista. :/
