| The fan on my 7600GS has been rather wonko as of late. It rattles and makes my entire system vibrate, and it's a little annoying. Sometimes it doesn't do it at all, sometimes it does it for hours. When I take it out, what should I look for? How can I fix it? Thanks. :) |

| And a little dangerous, that could shake something out of place :O Take it out, clean it by using a can of compressed air and see if there are any loose screws. You could also try controlling the fan so that it only runs full speed during heavy gaming. I would suggest rivatuner for that RivaTuner EDIT - oh, and make sure its in the seated firmly ![]() Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe @ 2.80GHz Cooler Master GeminII - Thanks Rich and HL! | Do what panda says. If that still doesn't work, you can try taking the fan out and oiling the bearing, but it would probably be easier to get an after market sink to save you from more trouble down the road. | Silence..Or I kill you! | Oiling the bearings might be a viable solution, if the bearing itself is still fairly tight. However, if the bearing is going out, and the fan has noticable side to side play, you really need to replace it with an aftermarket cooler, as Lead Head suggested!!! I have seen fans stop working due to side to side play, and overheat the GPU, (graphics processing unit), and burn the video card up!!! This should be addressed ASAP ![]() |
