| Okay i got the ultra infinity 600W PSU from Tyreal. When we tried plug it in the motherboard and all those wires it doesent work. WE used back my old psu and it worked i dont know why, but he said my motherboard doesen't support it... or something. He helped me tried everything and it still didn't work. The new psu worked on his computer but not mine. Whats going on? AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 1GB OCZ ram ASRock DualSATA2 Evga 7900GS KO |

When the front panel power button is pressed on the computer a logic low signal is sent from the motherboard to the PSU on the main power connector. Depending on if a 20 or 24 pin motherboard connector is used this will be on pins 14 (20 pin connector) or pin 16 (24 pin connector). When the machine is Off that pin is held at a logic high (+5 Volts) using the 5 Volt SB (Stand By) bus. Regardless of 20 or 24 pin connector that wire is almost always Green and the only Green wire in the main connector bundle. When that line goes low it is the PWR_ON command and the PSU should start. Then within 500 milli-seconds the PSU sends the PWR_OK or PWR_GOOD signal out assuming things are cool. That line is Pin 8 on either a 20 or 24 pin connector and is Grey in color. Take a look at the connector for the 300 Watt old PSU and the connector for the new 600 Watt PSU. Make sure the Green wire is on the same pin of the motherboard connector when connecting the new PSU. Meaning be sure of the pin orientation. Make sure the CPU power connector is also connected. You are sure the connector orientation is correct? Ron | |

| thanks for the summary Ron. What is the green thing you say?? I didn't connect it. MY friend Tyreal help connected it(new psu). Hes a better computer technician and more experiences than me so i am assuming he did everything the right way still it didn't turn on. | After testing out the PSU in his machine and having it not boot up, I tried it in my own computer. The computer was receiving power. I took it out and tried jump starting it (Green and black wire). It didn't start so I'm guessing it's because the powersupply requires some load on it before it can start. The CPU power connector was connected. I'm assuming the orientation is correct because the atx connector on both the powersupply and the motherboard has a clip to hold it in. I suppose it's possible that this powersupply has it backward but that doesn't make any sense. ![]() I Like Watercooling. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |
