| Okay, my dad got a new laptop and took it with him out of town for work. It is important because he is starting a new business that really needs a laptop. The laptop is good, but when he tries to sign on to AOL from internet explorer, it won't go to the page...It works on my desktop, my mom's laptop, and these other desktops. I think it might not work in the area he may be in or something. He disabled anti-virus and spysweeper. Still didn't work. He had his webpage guy help him. Didn't work... Any suggestions? I thought maybe his pop-up blocker was doing it, but I don't think so. Please don't get into an AOL sucks thread, this is important... |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Good point, everyone, please don't start thrashing AOL when he is asking for help!!!! First, have him download firefox and try again. Maybe it has something to do with the preinstalled internet explorer. The other thing that you might have him check, is the security, privacy, content, and the advanced setting with in the internet options. If he does not know how to get to the internet options, you click on the tools up at the top, and at the very bottom will be the internet options tab. |

| Yeah, I tried to have him do that, but he has the "new" internet explorer. As for FireFox, I don't know if he's smart enough...He's really stupid. I'll try. Thanks. |

I have only tried IE 7 for about a day or two, and promptly s**t canned it and went back to IE 6. Then got firefox a little bit later, and have never looked back Just have him google firefox, or just wait until he comes home and do it yourself and try it. You might also try downloading IE 6, uninstall 7 and install 6. | |

| I'm Diggin it! | Is he trying this from a dial-up account or through someones network? Could be anything AOL is blocked by the IT peeps if he is trying to login off of a provided connection. | Functional Alcoholic | Have him call the AOL help desk. They can walk him through the problem. I havn't messed with AOL in years, but from what I remember they are actually pretty helpful. You might also have him check to make sure his connection setting is set to TCP/IP instead of dial up. Maybe it got changed? |

| Funny, the guy at Best Buy told him to download Mozilla. He's trying that, not sure how it is yet. |
