Ok, why won't this game play?

Hey everyone, still having problems unfortunately

All my other games now play nicely after a reformat and reinstallation of the drivers. The exception is Madden NFL 08. The game used to play just fine on this exact system, but now will not play at all. It freezes at the splash screen when I have to push a button.

The game will eventually load, but will be insanely laggy and choppy. I have no idea what is causing this, I just reinstalled everything that I possibly could, RMA'd my graphics card, everything I could think of.

Anyone have any clue on what is causing this?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 stock clocked
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
3GB DDR2 667 Corsair XMS2
250GB WD Sata hard drive
Sapphire Radeon X1950GT PCIe
700w OCZ GamerXstream power supply

Any help would be appreciated, or I'm going to start pulling my hair out!

What kind of monitor are you playing this on?

The monitor seems kind of irrelevant, it used to play on this EXACT computer. My graphics card messed up and they sent me another one. Everything is fine, but this game won't play. No artifacting at all or anything.

BUT this game plays on another machine just fine without issue

Acer AL1916W 19" Widescreen LCD.

Thank you. What Catalyst drivers are you using, and what DirectX version do you have? Also, have you patched the game to the latest version?

As far as the monitor goes, try playing the game in windowed mode and see if you encounter the same problems.

Ok, updating the game worked this time :D .

Last time (after my graphics card borked) I also tried updating and it did not work.

Goody! I was going to ask about the monitor too...and stress it hard. Thought Hack had dual monitors, and Madden (all flavors) CTD with dual monitors enabled. Even knowing that, I still crash out at the stupid EA splash screen...because I'm stupid and forget to go to single mode.

Enjoy it though man...it's your last on the PC.

Yeah, sucks how EA sold out like that.

If I could get a PS3 in my dorm I would, but I think I'll just stick with the available PC games.

I like shooters, just could never find one with a good story. I'm fine with shooting, but damn, it needs a story!
