Default New Q6600 acts like an old Pentium 2

Something is defenitely wrong just got that computer built not even one week ago and it's slower then molasses
It takes like 5 minutes to bring up the task manager and the funny thing is I can see the the CPU performance at a 1 or %2 when I drag any wondow I get the whole screen getting covered with the same window !!!
That's when I don't get a Not Responding error usually have to wait a few minutes to manage to do anything
the only way to get around is by using the alt tab keys!!

you can see my specs in my signature!!!!

I doubt it is the processor's fault. Is this a fresh installation of Windows? Have you tried reinstalling the nVidia video drivers?

Maybe this idea is a bit dated, but if you run the computer is safe mode how does it do? Since your running generic drivers it is not going to scream, but it if performs a great deal better then you know that it is software. You can also use it to tweak some without pulling your hair out waiting for it to move.

I also think I remember someone brining up how a Video Card that is not seated well can cause bad issues like you are talking about.

All else fails, tear it down to the bare bones and start adding. I had a PC that I fixed that lagged real bad where problems with a scanner driver ended up being the problem. I just kept adding pieces back until the problem showed up.

Good Luck!

?? - I wouldn't have thought the burner would have made much difference.

Very common problem on the gigabyte boards. In the bios, set IDE config to AHCI.... And get the latest ICH8 drivers from intels website..
