Default New parts on the way!

Well, in a few days anyway.

I ordered (from Newegg) my Seagate 250GB SATA drive, my Zalman VF700-cu LED video cooler, and my light sticks. I ordered 1x red (12"), 1x green (15" sound activated) and one that's kind of bluish purple (12" UV) 8)

I would be very happy if the stuff gets here by the weekend, but I'm not sure when I'll receive it.

Wow, with all those different lights you are going to look like a 4th of July fireworks show!
Good luck with that VF700-Cu on the 7800GT. My VF700-AlCu is a very average performer on a 6600GT and poor on a 6800GT. You should probably be somewhere inbetween.

My lights and video cooler are slated to be delivered tomorrow (4/27), and the HDD won't be here until Monday.

I have an idea for how I want to use the lights, but whether it actually happens according to plan remains to be seen. It will be easier to get something going once I have the lights and see how, and where they will best fit into the case.

I'm hoping that because the VF700 is all copper that it will offer a good cooling solution. The stock HS that's on my card is all copper, but has less overall copper the thing I'm getting, so I'm hoping to get lower temps. As it is, I get idle temps of around 41-42°C, and loads of no more than 60°C.
But the main reason I wanted to try it is because the stock HSF on the card is too loud. I had a Zalman HSF for my P4 once and it was pretty quiet.

My guess is that the VF700Cu will yield similar temps as what you are getting now, just at a lower, tolerable noise level.

Yeah, a little less noise is what I'm after. The cooler and lights arrived today, but I'm not feeling that well these last couple of days, so I don't know when I'll get to installing the stuff. :smt090

It's going to be interesting to see how the VF700 handles the 7800GT.

IMHO, I don't know if the VF700 will improve temps. It will for sure be near silent though

On the otherhand, the Zalman is quiet!

If it keeps the temps at least the same as they are now, then I won't be too upset. I wouldn't expect too much lower unless I was on W/C, but I was quite concerned when I got the card and found out how loud the HSF is. When I was building the system, and had it running for tests, sitting right next to it, it was almost too loud. :smt103

I will definately let you know how it works out.

Well, to my surprise, my hdd arrived today, three days ahead of when I expected it.

As with the video cooler, I'll update when I can on how things work out.

I hear people complain about Newegg no longer being the cheapest.....but to be fair, their shipping is incredible, and their customer service equally good....I'll gladly pay a few dollars more to have service like that
