Default New Build Won't Post

I turned on my new build tonight just to see if I could get to the BIOS and there were no beeps from the motherboard. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you need a fan connected to the motherboard CPU Fan Header or else it might not work. I am waiting on 2 fans to go on my GeminII but there is nothing in the CPU Fan Header right now. Do you think this could be the problem and what would I put in there if I don't have a fan. Thanks!

no beeps and no power is not a good sign.....is not a good sign. Check the power supply connections, and if those aren't the issue, then we might have a dead PSU or motherboard

There is definitely power. Everything is lighting up but in the motherboard instructions it says 1 short beep means successful boot. When I first tried it I received one really long beep and that was because I hadn't plugged in the extra power on the video card. The hard drive light stays on without flashing. I don't know if that means anything. The drive is spinning. I only plugged in the power and monitor but no mouse or keyboard. That shouldn't matter should it. I just wanted to quickly see the opening screen before I go on a trip.

Success!! There was power but it has been so long since I have built my own and I am doing this faster than I probably should. I didn't realize there were 2 connections you need to make from the power supply. Now it is working. Thanks for your continued support. This forum has been so helpful.

No worries buddy, just take it slowly, you don't want any silly/expensive mistakes.
Keep us posted on your build, and if you have any questions, make sure you ask....as the saying goes "the only dumb question is the one not asked"
