Default New Boot Issue

Hi all i have a problem with my PC

My system used to boot normally few weeks back. i have both windows XP professional and windows 98 installed in my PC. Now My XP goes into loading phase with that progress flag moving..thats it. it wont lead me to my desktop. i need help. but my 98 boots. But i have come to see that CD drive is not getting detected. when i checked the hardware setting its saying that the driver is not found. i tried using XP cd at the start up. its not detecting it. the CD rom can be opened and closed. how do i solve this issue with XP and CD ROM? How can i reinstall XP in this case?

Are you using 2 HDD's or are you dual booting from 1 drive? Also if you could list your system specs that would help.

Are the OS's on separate partitions, or are you running them both from the same partition?
