Default NEED some help BAD!

ASUS M2V-TVM
Sempron 3000+ AM2
1GB DDR2-667 Kingston RAM
20GB HDD IDE
DVD-R IDE
(i think) 300WATT 24-pin PSU

is it the power supply? my computer turns on, u can hear everything spinning, and everything's turned on -- the monitors light keeps flashing - nothing on the screen. It's as if the video is messed up, but at the same time there is no POST beep (which some comps dont have anymore, i realize that and i think its the mobo).

It seems like its possible that there simply isnt enough power...but im confused...

please help me i need this fixed soonn!

what type of video and sound card do you have? do they have the 12v connection on them, if so did you plug in the 12v four pins up to them? If you do have the 12v on the cards you might not be pushing enough watts. Also when did this start doing this? I have a new system and it does it all the time . When I shut my system down for a bit come back turn it on all my fans and stuff run it seems either the video didn't get the hint or something but I have to hit the rest switch a couple of times to get it to boot then I hear the sound. I havn't had the time/money to start swaping out parts but I think its my mobo. Well get back I would like to know more about your system and stuff see if we can't get this fixed together.

Also you should put your WHOLE system info in your sig, you can do that by going to USER CP up at the top.

Try theses two steps for starters and get back to me.

1. Pull the power molex and IDE cable off the back of the DVD drive and try to bootup.

2. Cleared the motherboard CMOS via shorting the jumper for a few seconds or removing the CMOS battery for 1 minutes. (see motherboard manual for details)

Do you have another video card you could test in the system, or vice versa?

everything is on-board the mobo.

im picking up a 20-dollar 350W 24-pin PSU tomorrow -- if it isnt the problem, i have other uses for it. cheap check.

i hope its the PSU, because the parts are all good -- they must be.

i have another config

ASRock Socket A Mobo
Thunderbird 800MHz
2x128MB
same HDD (which is formatted by the way -- i've yet to install XP on it since i cant get booted up)
same opt drive
everything on-board

and the same thing happened with the SAME PSU -- thats what brought me to the strong conclusion that it's the PSU. i may be wrong, so we'll find out tomorrow.

im definetely gona post results.

p.s. i tried booting without the DVD drive -- no luck.

This happened to me a couple of months ago. I messed with it for a while and it turns out that I messed up something in the bios. Popped out the battery for a minute and put it back. Then it worked perfectly. I am not saying that is what is wrong with it, but it might be worth a try if nothing else is working.
