| I just purchased a game that was on the clearance rack at walmart called Rise of Nations Gold Edition. The install went smooth and no problems. When I click the icon to start the game, nothing happends. I have checked Direct X ver 9c, all drivers are signed and all test completed with no problems. I had the NGO Optimized drivers installed at first. Then I tried the Nvidia drivers ver 93.71. Same thing. So I uninstalled those and installed the first forceware drivers that were made for my card which were the 81.98 drivers and still have the same problem. I read through every text and doc I could find in the game's directory and could not find anything saying that my video card was not supported. I have even tried the compatibility mode in XP but that didn't work. I have tried eveything I can think of to get this game to run but to no avail. Can someone else shoot some clues my way here? | Also, if you have not already, check for patches from the manufacturer. It is not unusual to find that you have the base and they have come out with 100 mb of patches since to help support newer hardware and OS. | The uninstall/reinstall did not work. I tried to look up some patches but found a v1.03 patch. But when I checked the version on the EXE file for the game it was 2.4. But I will dig a little deeper for a patch. Any other ideas? | I had this same problem once with Sid Meires Pirates, There was nothing I could do to get it working. Even after all the patches and crap, I tried reinstalling after I had done a whole repartition/reformat and it still did the same thing. Sometimes you just have to accept that console games are the only way to go. (lol, just trying to start a fight I guess) | ||||||||||||||

| Well the online game advisor said that my system is more than capable of running the game. This is the only thing I could find in the text files on the Geforce cards: NVIDIA GeForce: When using some GeForce drivers, you might experience significantly decreased game performance the first time the game is started after the computer has been restarted. If this occurs, exit the game by pressing ALT+F4, and then restart the game. After restarting once, the game should perform as usual until the next time the computer is restarted. I really want to play this game!! . Any other ideas?
